Vegetables suitable for the recipe
You can use any variety of potato and (almost) any root vegetables and vegetables you happen to have for this. Potato - carrot - red cabbage is just one possible combination. Here are some other combinations that have been found to be good:
- potato – carrot – turnip – parsnip
- potato – carrot – cauliflower
- potato – carrot – green beans
For some reason, broccoli is one of the few vegetables that No be at your best in this recipe.
I always put it in such a way that about half of the contents of the tray are potatoes and the rest other vegetables. There should be about 1.5 vegetables in total? 1.7 kg, i.e. as much as a baking tray, as in the picture.

Preparation of oven roots step by step
Wash the potatoes and cut them lengthwise into 2-4 pieces, depending on the size of the potatoes.
Wash and peel the vegetables (if necessary) and cut them into evenly sized blocks. Red cabbage cooks quickly, so you can leave it in large pieces. Carrots, on the other hand, should be cut into narrow strips, narrower than potatoes, because carrots take longer to cook. This way you can make sure that all the ingredients are cooked at the same time.
Put the potatoes and vegetables on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Add all the spices and mix them by turning the contents of the pan thoroughly. Rub the spices onto the surface of the vegetables (this is easiest to do by hand).
Before frying, place the potato blocks evenly on the tray, so that each one has space and they are not on top of each other. In this case, they cook evenly on all sides.
Bake in the oven at 225 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
