If you're looking for a good and quick everyday meal, try these vegan pita breads. I recommend serving the filling with this spicy sauce.

We use protein-rich ones in the filling Vöner Original chips. You can replace this with another plant protein if you wish.

First, fry the Vöner chips in oil and separate the chips from each other with a ladle. When the chips have browned, add the arrabbiata pesto sauce, sliced vegetables and spices. Continue to fry for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are just tender - do not overcook.

Serve the filling with pita bread and spicy arrabbiata sauce. Yum!

Warming pita breads

I have usually heated the pita bread in the toaster. Then they get a nice color, but they don't get too much heat.

This time, however, I tried putting the pita bread in the oven, because the instructions said so. Help… I don't know what happened, but the loaves didn't get any color at all and turned out to be dry lumps. So not like this.

So I still recommend heating the pita bread in the toaster!

  • 8 pita bread
  • 200 g  Vöner Original chips
  • 1 (large) leaf of kale
  • 5 jalapeno
  • 1 small bell pepper
  • 2 tsp pesto arrabbia
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper

  1. Fry the Vöner chips in a hot pan in oil until the chips have separated from each other and they have acquired color.
  2. Chop the vegetables and add them to the pan.
  3. Add spices.
  4. Fry for another 5 minutes, stirring all the time. Take the pan off the stove as soon as the vegetables are just barely cooked - don't overcook!
  5. Warm the pita breads in the oven or toaster. Fill the breads with the filling and with sauce.
