This post started when we accidentally bought the wrong kind of muesli. I'm not a big fan of basic muesli, and I especially don't want my muesli to have rice grains and/or corn flakes. However, we ended up with a big bag of the following strangely tenacious and at the same time tasteless crap:

basic muesli

I've made homemade granola before, so I decided to tweak this ready-made muesli a little more delicious. In the end, this turned out to be a very good way to make homemade granola quickly and effortlessly!

Since the basic muesli already contains many different kinds of grains, dried berries and other things, it really only needs a little more crunch and sweetness. There is also no risk here of buying five different kinds of flakes and bran, which will then be left on the wigs in the cupboard getting dusty.

This recipe can be prepared in 20 minutes. You absolutely only need two ingredients:

  • rapeseed oil (or other mild-tasting oil)
  • maple syrup

In addition, you can use one of the following:

  • raisins
  • crushed walnut
  • seeds (e.g. sunflower seeds)
  • dried berries (e.g. cranberries)
  • dried fruit chopped into small pieces
portion of granola, yogurt and berries

Tuning ready-made muesli is the easiest way to prepare homemade granola. Serve the finished granola with, for example, yogurt and berries.

  • 5 dl standard ready-made muesli (non-roasted)
  • 2 tbsp rapeseed oil
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoon ground almonds
  • 2 tbsp sunflower seeds
  • 2 tbsp dried cranberries

  1. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius (350 Fahrenheit).
  2. Pour the basic muesli on baking paper on a baking sheet.
  3. Add canola oil and maple syrup.
  4. Add the other ingredients you want, such as ground almonds, sunflower seeds and dried cranberries.
  5. Mix well.
  6. Spread in an even layer. The end result should resemble this:

  7. Bake for 7 minutes. Remove from the oven, stir the mixture, then spread it again in an even layer.
  8. Bake for another 5-7 minutes until the granola is crispy and beautifully golden brown.

  9. Store in an airtight jar or box. Serve, for example, with yogurt and berries.
