If you can make a whimsical piece before Christmas vegan gingerbread banoffee, where can you find a substitute for kinuski sauce? Dulce de leche is usually made from condensed milk. Caramelized condensed milk can be found ready-made on the shelves of many stores. There is no ready-made vegan version, so I had to develop a suitable recipe for a while.
I tried making kinuski:
- from coconut milk (too strong coconut aroma)
- almond milk (it tasted really strange)
- of vanilla flavored soy milk (works perfectly!)
With vanilla-flavored soy milk (Alpro Vanilla), the end result is exactly what I hoped for, i.e. a soft, crunchy texture without side flavors. The children were excited to taste the dulce de leche so eagerly that the banoffee threatened to be completely unmade...
Please note that 4/5 of the liquid evaporates during cooking. With this recipe, you will prepare 2 dl of ready-made dulce de leche. As you can see in the picture, the finished dulce de leche is so thick that a spoon leaves a decent hole in it!Tulosta
