For a change, here is one recipe with the tag "kids cook". The first-born cooked pasta and vegetable dumplings in a really tasty tomato sauce. This dish is ready in no time and even a complete beginner can do it. All I had to do this time was cook the pasta.

Easy and good tomato sauce for pasta
The sauce is being prepared

Tomato sauce

The secret to the taste of tomato sauce is Polpa + Paprika, i.e. crushed tomato containing paprika. It has a more interesting taste than pure tomato puree and it alone brings a really good taste to the sauce.

The tomato crumbles were seasoned With Urtekram's Italian spice mix. If you can't find this, you can use some suitable combination of the following: salt, oregano, garlic, paprika, basil, rosemary, sage, black pepper, coriander, ginger and white pepper (the seasoning mix contains all of these).

In addition, there are dried onions and garlic in the sauce, which add more depth to the taste. The recipe is suitable for children, so there was no need to chop fresh onions - the idea was that even a small child can prepare the sauce all by himself.

Vegetable balls in a pan
Heating the vegetable rolls

Vegetable rolls

We used for this Vegan vegetable rolls from Hälsans Kök, but you can replace them with any vegetable dumplings (or meat dumplings, if you eat meat). Other good options are e.g. Other Vegetable rolls and Boltsi Original seed balls.

I still recommend trying these Hälsans balls, because they are perhaps the most authentic-tasting vegan "meatballs" we've come across. I had to check the packaging to see what on earth I had bought, weren't these supposed to be vegan... And they are, but the taste is really incredibly meaty and, at least in our opinion, just right. These balls can be found in the freezer section of most stores.

I have not really been paid for the previous speech; I always get really excited when I find good substitutes for meat products. Especially when there are several mixed eaters in the family who are used to the taste of meat.

If there are picky eaters in the family, the sauce and rolls can also be served separately. Then the own taste of the vegetable dumplings will actually come out better and will not be overshadowed by the sauce in any way.

But now to the recipe!
